MANGAPAI WINS HANDSOMELY,
Competing in the Rishworth Shield tennis competition on Saturday, Mauhu wore easily defeated by Mangapai Who Avon every game of the .U 5 played. The contest took place at the Mangapai courts, resulting as follows, Maunu players being mentioned first:
Men’s Singles.—F. Bairgc lost to W. Johns 9—2, W. Crone her lost to A/ Byles 9—fi, J. Hayward lost to A. Sloano 9—2, N. Wilson lost to J. Johns 9—o. Combined Doubles.—Miss Wilson and B. Clarke lost to Miss N. Sloano and P. Carter 9—2, Aliss Sloano and E. Gunson lost to Airs Fin lay son and K. Carter 9 —5. Ladies’ Doubles: —Mrs Carter and Miss Clarke lost to Aliss IR. Sloano and Aliss P, Johns 7—4, Alisses Sloano and Wilson lost to Aliss N. Sloano and Airs Finlayson 7 —4. Men’s Doubles.—F. Barge and Wm. Croucher lost to W. Johns ami A. Bvles, 9—(i; Hayward and Wilson lost to A. Sloano and J. Johns, 9—2; Clarke and Gunson lost to P. Carter and K, Carter. 9 —2.
