OBITUARY
PRANK HEDGER BUTLER
(Australian Press Association.) (Received 8.34 a.m.) LONDOX, November 27. The death has taken place of MiFrank Hedges Butler, E.R.G.R., the noted musician and pioneer aviator. He was 7.". years of age.
Air Frank Hedges Butler, born on Dee ember 17, ISd.’i, was .founder and first chairman of tin* Imperial Institute Orchestra! Society and also founder of the Lyric Club Orchestra. He was lirst violin player at the Handel Festival and on many other important musical occasions. He was first treasurer of the Royal Automobile Club (181)7-11)02) and took part in that (dub’s 1000 trial, in 1900. Mr But lei' made over 100 balloon ascents, including the English long-distance one-man record in 1002. He was the pioneer of the dirigible balloon in 1907 and .of the aeroplane in 1908. His publications include “Five Thousand Miles in a Balloon,” “Across Lapland with Reindeer and Skis, and “Fifty Years of Trawl -by Land, Water and Air.”
