FATAL FALL
SON OF A MINISTER
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day,
The coroner found that Cyril Campbell Armour, aged 13 whose body was found among the boulders at the foot of the Cliffs at Sumner, was not drowned, but killed by a fall from the cliffs on to" the beach.
The boy’s brother said Cyril sometimes took foolhardy risks, and that since a recent operation he had been 1 subject to giddiness. Otherwise he was normal and in very good health. In returning his verdict the coroner said: “It seems that in a spirit of adventure he essayed a task in itself exceedingly dangerous, that of climbing the cliffs. We can only surmise that he fell from the cliffs to the! beach below and sustained injuries from which he could not hope to live.”
The news 'of Cyril Armour’s death was announced to ’the Presbyterian General Assembly, sitting in Auckland, by the Rev. Dr. Erwin, of Christchurch. The boy was the son of the Rev. T. W. Armour, of Christchurch. A resolution of deep sympathy was adopted, members standing in silence.
