CREW, OF TUG BENEFIT,

WANGANUI, This Day.

The Wanganui Harbour Board’s claim for salvage work done by its tug for the Canterbury Shipping Company’s steamer Gale has been settled out 'Of Court.

The board claimed £SOOO, but Mr Justice Sim, who heard the case, died before delivering judgment. Rather than have the case reheard the parties entered into negotiation, and the company agreed to pay £I2OO, and costs amounting to some hundreds of pounds.

From this sum the board has decided to grant bonuses of £SO to the master of the tug, £25 to the engineer, £l2 to the second officer, and about £S each to the crew of 10,
