DEFINITE LOSS ESTIMATE
LIST OF INSURANCES,

WELLINGTON, This Day,
A meeting of the Underwriters Association was held yesterday, at which it was discovered that the total amount insured was £126/550, while the estimated losses beyond insurances were roughly about £IOO,OOO, possibly more, so that the damage caused by Monday right’s record conflagration was in the neighbourhood of £250,000,. The folloAving is a complete list of all premises upon which claims for damages, slight or otherwise, are likely to arise, and amounts for which the promises or contents were insured:— Alain fruit exchange, building, £32,000; Thompson Bros Ltd, contents, stock, lift and fittings, £32,500; Laery and Co., Ltd., stock, £10,500; Tolnn
Printing Company, contents, £.1950; George Thomas, £6000; Brown Bros, and Gcddes, stock, £2000; Johnson and Eglin, £3900; Griffiths Savage and Co., £7200; Open China Warehouse, £3000; Toop and Ncilson, £3000; Harrisons and Ramseys Ltd., £2000; Buekland and Co,, £100; McLeod and Co., £400; Weltcin and Co., £150; Dunsheath and
Co., £650. Down to this point the losses are believed to be total. The extent of the loss in the following eases, is not definite:—Goldingham and Becket Ltd., building, £B,OOO, office contents, £8000; AV. Burbridge and Co., £2OOO, contents, office £100; New Zealand Platers Ltd., stock and plant, £1000; Union Clothing Company, £100; Post and Telegraph Department, material, £150; AA r . A. Bray, £1200; J. Bowrie, contents, £500; Toagle Smith and Sons, Ltd. were insured but the amount is not available.
TAVO FIREMEN INJURED,
SPECTATOR KNOCKED DOWN

The size of the fire and the large crowd of spectators made accidents unavoidable, but fortunately none of those that occurred was serious. Mrs Plimmer, of Roxburgh Street, was knocked down by a motor car in Courtenay place, and suffered a severe shock.
Ex-Brigadesman S. Jones, a truck driver, assisting his old comrades, was injured in the right hand* and cut by falling glass. Auxiliary Fireman A.
