SWIMMING CLUB
COMMITTKE A 1 FETING
A meeting of the Whaugarei Amateur Swimming Club Committee was held last night, those present being Mr K. G. M. Kelly (president), 'Mrs Alessent, Messrs Collins, Nichols, Given, Dudley, Preebe, Blennerhassot, Rishworth, Jack, Redwood and Monkhouse (secretary). A suggested programme for the forthcoming carnival was placed before the committee and fully discussed. It was decided to include a breaststroke event, open to men and women, and Mr Given offered to donate a guinea as a prize. Mr Given was accorded a hearty vote of thanks, which was carried bv acclamation.

Given; timekeepers: Messrs smith, yimmons and Benjamin; referee ; Mr A. D. Jack; property steward: Mr AJderton; costume stewards: Mr C. Collins (men) and Mrs J. Nichols (ladies); recording steward: Mr H. Preebe. Messrs Hollows, Reed and Webber were elected as an entries
•onnnittee. It was decided to hold a club -night this season between both the .men's and ladies’ clubs on Tuesday nights. Mrs Mcsseut was deputed to interview the chairman of the School Committee for the use of the baths. It was also decided to forward a letter concerning the matter to the chairman of the committee. Messrs Preebe and G. Moor were appointed to take entries and Mr Moor was also elected to the vacant position on the committee.
After some discussion it was decided to make appreciation for the matter of the girls' dressing ahcds at Mair Park to be brought before the Borough
Council, ami it was suggested that the present men’s sheds bo converted into one for girls and that new buildings be erected for men. It was considered desirable that the ladies’ shed, which accommodates both adults aiid children, should be reserved for adults alone. A motion that a letter of thanks be sent to the Borough Council thanking it for its offer of free water was carried, unanimously.
