BRIGHT DAWN BREAKING SPIRIT OF CO-OPERATION. BALDWIN OPTIMISM. (United Service.) * , (Received 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, October 12. The Prime Minister, Mr Stanley Baldwin, made optimistic reference to the new era in British industry, in an address to Sheffield cutlers, “The fact that Trade Unions are purging the Labour movement of seditious elements, and the successful progress of the Industrial Peace Conference,” he said, ” indicate the dawn of a new, unprecedented era of cooperation, It is being recognised that no Government alone can bring prosperity to industry. It is a fallacy to think that depressed industry can be saved by cutting down selling organisations and advertising.” Mr Baldwin hoped there would soon be some qualifying test for directors. Any modern employer neglecting his workpeople , was guilty of a crime against the community, because he was fostering the very spirit of ' discontent which inevitably would lead to unrest. A small minority of such employed could breed an atmosphere of suspicion throughout the whole countrv.
