A DOCTOR'S PUNISHMENT

Hcnnessy, on November 28, 1927, was fined £do and had his license cancelled till March :U, 1930, for being drunk in charge of a car. Yesterday lie applied for remission of the cancellation. Counsel described the hardships, which were very severe, on a doctor owing to Inability to carry out calls. Dr. Ilennessy gave evidence, , saying, inter alia, that ho could not afford a chauffeur. Mr Salmon; S.M., said he had tally considered the inatter at the time. He recognised the hardships involved. This was part of the penalty. lie had a duty to the public, and was not going to wait till someone was killed. T7l cases of this nature, especially a second offence, as in this case, a man’s license should be suspended for a long period, if not for all time.
