AN OVERDUE SCHOONER

CONSIDERABLE 'ANXIETY PELT,

(Special to “Northern Advocate”) AUCKLAND, This Day. There is considerable anxiety about the Northern Steamship Company’s auxiliary schooner Hauturu, . which crossed' the Mauukau bar on Thursday evening bound for Hokianga, but has not since been reported. She must have encountered a fierce gale soon' after getting to sea. The Han- ‘ turu, should, under ordinary circumstances, have arrived at Hokianga on. Friday. iShe may have run before the gale and made for shelter, or have experienced difficulty in getting back to the coast, being a flat bottomed craft. She may. have been t; ' carried a considerable distance off the land. Inquiries today elicited replies from Cape Maria, Ahipara and ■ Hokilanga Heads that she had not - been seen at these places.

Smith, C. Brahme (seamen), and J. Williamson (cook). The master has been aboard for three trips, replacing Captain Jackson Fowler, who is ill.
