A strangy story is related by Ml. Andre Nature), who arrived at Sydney recently from the New Hebrides by the French cargo steamer Saint Andre.

Ssnie years ago he was asked by the Bignambas tribe, of the island at Maticolo (New Hebrides), to become their chief. The Bignambas were cannibals and M. Nature! found on liis arrival at the island that several natives were to be killed that day and eaten in Ins honour. M. Nature! was forced by the menacing at titude of the cannibals to jiartake of the feast.

At the conclusion of', the orgy he was made -chief of the tribe, and at present he is the only white man who can live safely on the island.
