SWIMMING CLUB
PREPARATIONS FOR CARNIVAL
The Whangaroi Swimming Club Committee met last evening, when Mr W. Dudley presided over an attendance of Mrs Messent and Messrs J. Nicholls, H. J, Preebe, C. D. Moloney, K. G. M. Kelly, G. Reid, A. Dudley, and the secretary, W. R. Blcnnerhasset.
Messrs Kelly, Reid and A. Dudley were constituted a programme committee for the carnival to be held at the baths on. Friday, February 17.
Carnival officials were appointed as at the previous meeting, with the exception that Messrs H. C. Rishworth, W. Jack and A. J. Murdoch wall act as judges. Messrs Dudley and Nicholls were instructed to make arrangements for additional seating.
It is proposed that an additional electric light globe be placed over the middle of the baths and the borough electrical engineer is to be asked to alter the position of the lighting. The matter of extending an invitation to Auckland swimmers to visit Whangarei was deferred until after the earnival.
Accounts totalling £l7 7s 6d were passed for payment.
The programme for the forthcoming carnival was drawn up as foil owes: —Tiny tots, boys and girls (across bath;; boys 16 years, 50 yards; girls, 16 years, 50 yards; boys, 14 and under, 33 1-3 yards; girls, 14 and under, 33 1-3 yards; 50 yards open handicap; 66 2-3 yards ladies’ handicap; 100 yards open handicap; diving competition, open (ladies and. men combined); McCully Cup relay race (North Auckland secondary schools); egg and spo'on race.
