BOARD MEMBERS APPOINTED.

WELLINGTON, This Day.

T/io Prime Minister (Rl. Hon. J. G. Coates) announces the personnel of the board to be set up under the Rural Intermediate, Credits Act, 1927. The Act provides that the board shall consist of, seven members, of whom the Public Trustee, by virtue of his o|fice, shall be one. The remaining ' members, of whom at least one shall have had practical experience of fanning, shall be appointed by the Governor-General and shall hold office during his Majesty's pleasure. The Public Trustee iis tp, be the principal executive member of (the. board and, in Ms capacity as such, shall be called the Commissioiner of Rural Credits.

His Excellency the • Governor-Gen-, era! has appointed the following six members:— •»

John Brown, of Lowcliffe, Canterbury, farmer, Thomas Eustace Corkill, of Wellington, retired banker.

James Jacob Eason, CMJ.G., of Wei- 1 lipiton, financial adviser to the Government.

Norton Francis, 0.M.G., of Christchurch, company director. John Norman Massey, of Puni, Auckland, farmer.

William of WelHngtou, Superintendent of State 1 Advances,

The foregoing, together with John William Macdonald, the Public Trustee of the Dominion of New Zealand, are to constitute the board.

In addition, the Governor-General has, under section 9 of the Act, appointed James Jacob Esson to be chairman of the board, to hold office * during his Majesty's pleasure. The first meeting of the board is, under section 8 of the Act, to beheld at a time and place to be appointed by the Minister. As soon as the necessary preliminary work, which it will be realised has been very heavy, has been completed in the direction of bringing the Act futo operation and linking up the machinery with the existing \orgjaniaatiou of the Public Trust Office, the Act will bo launched and applications for loans will be dealt with.—Press Assn.
