Mr M. J. Crombie was last night elected a member of the New Zealand Golf Council, in place of Major A. E, Conway, resigned.

At the Auckland Supreme Court yesterday, on the motion of Mr L. P. Leary, Messrs A. M. and H. A. Steadman were admitted as barristers by Mr Justice Bced.

Mr Norman G. Sturt, the wellknown tennis player, who with Mr C. H. Knott won. the doubles championship of New Zealand this year, is a visitor to Whangarei.

The Rev. F. Wilkes, late of the parish of Largs, Ayrshire, Scotland, arrived at Auckland by the Arawa. Mr Wilkes will work in the Waikato Diocese, where he expects to receive an opportunity shortly. , * /

Colonel-Commandant H, R. Potter, C.M.G., Officer Commanding the Northern Command, arrived in Whangarei today, and will inspect the High School Cadets, at present undergoing their annual military training.

The Mayor, Mr L. J. Brake, Cr. A. H. Curtis and the Town Clerk, - Mr C. L. Grange, have keen appointed delegates to represent the Whangarei Borough Council at the twentieth annual conference of the Municipal Association to he held at Nelson on March 14.
