NEW SLEEVE EFFECTS.

Dressmakers delight in new touches, and at the moment are concentrating on the fanciful, where long sleeves are concerned. A variation of the plain full sleeve drawn into a tight wrist band is obtained by the slit effect. From the elbow to the wrist the sleeve is cut into four pieces, .which are allowed free play till they reach the wrist where they are held by a fitting cuff band. Such a sleeve looks better lined than unlined, though if the cut edges are bound there is no need for this. Another type of sleeve is a magyar, whiclh is cut so amply that its lines resemble those of the wing cape, the fullness falling in rich folds from where the sleeve is inset. A gradual narrowing off towards the wrist, and a fitting Puritan cuff is the usual finish of a sleeve of this kind.
