PONSONBY BOYS’ BAND
| TO VISIT WHANGAREI. DURING EASTER PERIOD. Last evening Air J. D. Hurfit, hon. I secretary of the Ponsonby Boys’ Band, mot the members and officials of the Whangarei Municipal Band at the bandroom in Dent Street and made arrangements for a. visit of the organisation to Whangarei at Easter time. The band, which is 32 strong, has recently completed a very successful rour through the southern part of the Dominion. It has been classified on all sides as a first-class musical combination and has won high praise from the Governor-General, Sir Charles Fergasson. The boys will arrive in Whangarei on the afternoon, of April 6 and return to Auckland probably by the express on the Easter Monday. During their stay in Whangarei they will be billeted by various townspeople, and the only expense to be met will be that, of railway fares. This, it is hoped, will be covered by the collections to be taken up at the various performances.
The band’s visit will provide a musical epic for the town and should have the effect of inculcating a love of music in the rising generation. Full details in connection with the tour will be marie public shortly.
