Figures supplied by the Railways Department show that nearly half the expresses and mail trains in the last recorded year kept to schedule, and the average lateness of all that ran late was six minutes, a very creditable performance considering the hilly nature of New Zealand and the liability to slips, washouts and other disturbing factors.—Press Assn.
