BOXING

DELANEY—HEENEY BOUT. (Received 10 am.) NEW YORK, January 28. Delaney and Heeney have each posted a forfeit of 5000 dollars to assure appearance for their 15-rouncl bout, scheduled for March 1. —A. and N.Z.

HONOURS EASY,

PURDY AND IZZARD. (Received 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. At the Stadium on Saturday night, Charles Purdy (9.7*) fought a 15rounds draw with Izzard (9.7 f). The contest was exciting, both men scoring well. The Englishman was a shade ahead up to the fifth round. The New Zealander then concentrated on attack on the body and forced the fight. Izzard, however, proved superior at in-fighting, but when fighting at long range Purdy easily equalised matters, and at the end of the bout the referee was unable to separate the men and declared a draw. The decision was questioned by a large section of the crowd, who thought Purdy was the better man, — A. and N.Z.
