SERIOUS POSITION. CONSEQUENT ON DRY SPELL. ■ PALMERSTON N., This Day. At a conference. of delegates representing authorities securing electric power from Mangahao, hold yesterday, Mr F. T. Kisscll, departmental engineer, pointed out the serious position that had .arisen as a result of the dry spell, and that a reduction of the load was essential. He acknowledged the efforts that several power boards and borough councils had already made to meet the situation, but, pointed out that they were not sufficient to meet the crisis now facing the Department. After a lengthy discussion, the conference gave the Department authority to make a 20 per cent reduction in the load, leaving it to the various authorities to make their own arrangements to meet the circumstances. Mr Kissell considered that a 20 per eent. reduction would meet the situation, —Press AsSh.
