FOR AUSTRALIAN ABORIGINALS. ALSO FEDERAL REPRESENTATION (Received 10.45 a.m.) ' ' CANBERRA, This Day. A petition has been presented to the House-in favour of creating a model aboriginal state, ro be managed ultimately' bv a native tribunal, as far as ■ possible,, according to their own laws and customs, but prohibiting cannibalism and .cruel rites. The .petition urges that provision should be made so that ultimately the government of the state might be conducted by aborigines. Persons, other than aborigines, excepting Federal Government officials, missionaries, teachers and agricultural instructors, to bo prevented from entering the state. The representation of aborigines in the Federal Parliament is also proposed, somewhat on the lines of the Maoris in New Zealand.—A. and N.Z.
