NORTHERN STOCK SALES.

Walter Wakelin reports: — ■ w At Kamo mid-month sale on Wednesday, 21st inst„ there was a large yarding of dairy stock and store cattle. Good dairy cows close to profit made from £9 to £l3 10s; ordinary cows, £6 to £8; good dairy heifers, up to £8; cows in milk, £5 to £6; in calf store cow’s, £3 to £4 os; grown steers, £6 14s; three-year steers, £5 10s; 18 months steers, £3; bulls, £3 to £5; good two-year-old Shorthorn heifers, to £3 17s. A line of shorn hoggets made 21s 6d. Fifty pigs were penned and made from 11s to 2ls.

At Whakapara sale on Thursday, September 22, 300 head of cattle, 00 sheep and 18 pigs -were yarded and practically everything sold under keeiV competition. Prices realised wore as follow's:—'Best dairy cows, £5 10s to £8 15s; others, £4 2s fid to £5; beef cows and heifers, £5 5s to £6 17s fid;

Forward store cows made to £4; a pen of 20 cows with calves at foot, £4 7s store steers to £5 10s. A line of 25 good quality store bullocks was passed at £6 6s; two-year-old steers, £4 to £4 10s; woolly hoggets, to 24s Id; weauer pigs, 13s to 17s; slips, 235. At Maungakaramea on Friday, 23rd September (selling alternately with Messrs A. Buckland and Sons), I held my opening sale in the Agricultural Association's yards. There was an enthusiastic attendance of buyers, and outside districts were represented. Over COO head of cattle were yarded,! and were practically all sold under keen competition. About. 40 head of beef were yarded. Steers made up to £9 ss. A pen of good cows made £8 11s. Very forward conditioned bullacks made np to £7 ss; 4-year steers £5 9s to £G; three-year steers, £4 Ids to £5 10s; 18-months to two-year steers, £3 10s to £4 ss; yearling steers, £2 to £3. There was a largo yarding of store cows, which sold exceptionally well.-.
