Mrs E. C. Tapley, . the mother of Mr H. L. Tapley, M.P., for North Dunedin and an ex-Mayor of the ; city, died yesterday afternoon, after a brief illness, states la Dunedin message.
Mr A. F. Menzies, of Vancouver, British Columbia, who has been spending a short holiday with his brother, Mr H. Menzies, of Grey Street, left for Te Kuiti en route to Dunedin by the noon express today. Adjutant Agatha Battersby, a lady .Salvation Army missionary, who has spent ten years in Korea, the “Land of the Morning Calm," is visiting Whangarei for the week-end, and will be the guest of Adjutant and Mrs Sawyer. When speaking of the splendid work accomplished in the .girls' schools attached to the Northern Rhodesia Mission, Dr. H. E. Wareham, in his missionary address at the Congregational Church last night, said that he was pleased to have met in Whangarei Mrs Stewart Wright, of King Street, who had .spent eight years as a teacher at the Mbereshi Mission.
