(Received 10.8 a.m.) | NEW YORK, May 17. j New Orleans reports that another j barrier against the floods collapsed, ) marooning 500 inhabitants of Merville. ;The victims rushed to the tops of the levees and awaited rescue. A relief train loaded with food and 20 boats is" being run through the water towards the town. It will proj eecd as far as possible on the tracks, j after which the boats will be unloaded to rescue the sufferers, J The railroad embankment at Merville jis also crowded with automobiles and ! household goods of the refugees. Boats are being sent in many directions across j the flooded Sugar Bowl lands to rescue j townspeople.
