The Immigration Department announces that Central European irami--1 grants coming to Canada on the undcr- ' standing that they will work on the • western farms .where labour ib badly ■ needed, will be compelled to live up to the understanding in future, or be returned. Advices received by the Department indicate that a large number of such 1 immigrants refused to work in the , fanning areas and many are unem- ■ ployed in the western cities, whither I ! Central Europeans are brought by the : railway companies for specific farmj 'work. It is estimated that 1000 of| ’these are unemployed in Calgary alone,i | many also are idle at Winnipeg.
