MAITLAND HOLD-UP
MEN AND VESSELS IDLED IRKSOME REGULATIONS. ADJUSTMENT EXPECTED SOON. (United Press Assn—Copyright.) (Received 9 a.m.) SYDNEY, March 16. As a result of the deputies’ trouble on the Maitland coalfields, nearly a dozen overseas and other vessels, particularly those engaged in the coal trade, are tied up in Sydney.

This lis in addition to nearly 10,000 colI liery employees. , The Minister of Mines anticipates I that the dispute will end tomorrow. | Under the amended Mines Regulation Act, deputies alleged that it was impossible to thoroughly discharge their duties within the statutory hours; consequently, when miners reported for work they were unable to start, because the inspections were not complete. To meet this position new regulations have been drafted. Inspectors have now been instructed to visit the mines and to re-allot to the deputies such districts as they can thoroughly inspect within the statutory time. —A. and N.Z.
