DASTARDLY INTENT

TO WRECK A TRAIN. IRON BAR ACROSS RAILS. (Received 9 a.m.) ADELAIDE, January 21. A serious accident to the MelbourneAdelaide express was narrowly averted today, when the front wheels of, the engine left the rails near Mount Lofty.

Investigation showed that a large piece of iron had been placed across the line, causing the wheels to jump the rails. No one was was injured.—A. and N.Z.
