NAVAL APPROPRIATION
A LOWER AMOUNT. ! VOTED THIS YEAR. PERSONNEL STEADY, (Received 11.52 a.m.) WASHINGTON, This Day. j The Naval Appropriation Bill, carrying 324,394,680 dollars, which is nearly 10,000,000 dollars beiow present appropriations, has been reported to the Hpuse and is expected to be duly passed. Heeding the President's request for economy, the Committee asked for no appropriations for three cruisers and two giant dirigibles and left the navy personnel at the present figure, 82,500. Ten recent, proposals for ten cruisers were approved. President Coolidge stands independently in another bill calling for no actual appropriation funds, hence the present situation.
There is no actual demand for money for new fighting craft, though it may develop as the session progresses.—A. and IST.Z.
