MYSTERIOUS THEFT
STRANGE MAN ‘DISAPPEARS. PALMERSTON N, This Day. A sum of £220 in notes, made up for banking mysteriously disappeared from behind the counter of the Municipal Public Offices one day last week. The statement of a cashier is that while he was absent for a moment, from the' counter where the money lay, a- thud was heard- in the public office and a strange man found behind the counter. The visitor made off when left alone for- a moment. Detectives are investigating.—Press Assn.
