MALE CHOIR

ENJOYABLE SOCIAL EVENING. At the Y.M.C.A. last night the Male Choir of the Waiata Society held a social evening, to which lady and gentlemen friends and members of the Gloombusters Club were invited. The chair was occupied by Mr E. G, Hosking, president of the Society, and in welcoming the visitors he pointed out that the Male Choir members were delighted to have them present. The Choir members, he said, received a great deal of pleasure from their work and he trusted that their number would be augmented considerably in the near future. “With regard to the activities of the Society, he wished to state that it was the intention of the committee to put on an opera'-this season, and, providing arrangements could be made with J. C. Williamson Ltd. in the matter of royalty, it was proposed to produce “Our Miss Gibbs.” In order that this production should be a satisfactory one, he asked all those who could render assistance to rally round the Society. In responding on behalf of the visitors, Mr D. A. McLean wished the Male Choir every success in the future. There Was not the slightest doubt that it was filling an important niche in the musical life of the community. On behalf of the Gloombusters especially, he appreciated the kindly thought of the members in asking them to be present that evening. During the evening a number of musical items were greatly appreciated.
