Tlie following are a few that do well in Whangarci: Mrs Herbert Stevens, white; also Frau Carl Druschki; Mrs Wakefield Christie-Millar, pink; Countess of Gosford, pink; Betty, pink; Mrs Harold Brocklebank, cream and pink; Lady Hillingdon, apricot yellow; Duchess of Wellington, saffron yellow; Margaret Dickson Haniel, maize-straw; and Souvenir of Stella Gray, yellow shades of the red varieties; K. of K. and Bed Letter Day, which are very much alike, do very well; General McArthur is a wellknown crimson; Hall Mark Crimson is a beautiful dark red of more recent introduction. Other roses of recent introduction that might be tried are; Shot Silk, # Betty Hprichard, Lady Inchiquin, and Padre. The writer has seen these roses, but cannot yet say how they would do in Whangarci.
