STRIKE ISSUE
SETTLEMENT EXPECTED AUSTRALIAN DISPUTATION, GAS CONSUMPTION CURTAILED. (Received noon.) SYDNEY, This Day. The coal strike position is unaltered, hut it is generally expected that the compulsory conference to be held on Monday will result in a settlement of the trouble. Tho restrictions placed on gas consumers in Sydney resulted in a reduction of 30 per cent, in the gasworks output. ■With tho arrival of a shipment of coal and tho promise of further supplies the restrictions are being interpreted liberally.—A. and N.Z.
