ERIC BARBOUR
That Erie Barbour, the former New South Wales batsman, has lost little, if anv. of his ability with the bat, has been shown by his many fine performances in local cricket, since he took up his residence at Newcastle for the purpose of carrying on his medical practice there a few years ago. It is quite refreshing to see hi-s name cropping up again as it did in tjio match between the New Zealanders and Newcastle, when be got past tin* half-century mark in both innings „r Ou- local team. Barbour, a few years was one of tbe most successful batsmen in the New South Wales eleven, c,ml had be not withdrawn from big erf ket be would almost certainly have -•.liiii-.d Test match honours. Cricket runs hi ih ( * family, for his father, Mr. George failiiu!!-. headmaster of tbe Toont.omba fOiu-ciisliind) Grammar School, was also
