WHEAT POOLS
| THE CANADIAN SYSTEM. WORTH COPYING. (Received Noon.) OTTAWA, February 23. A Winnipeg message states that Mr McDonald, interviewed on arrival from St. Paul, said: “Although my visit here Las been brief, it has been sufficient to convince me that the combination of local and central control of the Canadian wheat pools is virtually perfect, and I shall strongly advocate I the formation of a central administraj tive body for Australian pools, such as (now function for three Canadian wheat (pools. I believe, after a cursory surj vey of American agriculture, that the j Australian farmer on the whole is in a j better financial condition than his (brother in either Canada or ' the j United States. Good weather and good markets on our continent have combined to put the farmers on a sound financial footing.’’ Mr McDonald declined to comment on the final executive session of the St. Paul conference, further than to point out that international co-ordina-tion between wheat pools in an interchange of crops and pool statistics had been decided upon.—Reuter.
