NATIONS' LEAUGE COUNCIL
POLAND'S CHANCES WEIGHED.
(Beceived 1.45 p.m.) PARIS-, February 19. Amid a .chorus of the French' press demanding Poland's admission to .the League Council, the "Gaubois" finds that Sir Austen Chamberlain's statement concerning the League yesterday' was ■ wise, fair and courageous. It points out that each Power's point of view must be examined in order to see';' to what extent they arc mutually concilable. "Le Matin" refers to various fals£ rumours about the hostilitv of Japan, and Sweden and the stubborn opposition of Britain to enlargement of the - : League Council. It says that actually no government has so far de* clared against Poland, whose chance of admission to the Council, and likewise that of Spain, is excellent, tdiile" Brazil's chances are increasing.—* Beuter.
