DEEP-SEA FISHING

MAKO SHARK CAPTURED. Mr J. E. Keatley, of the Hukerenui Hotel, accompanied by Mr W. H. Clarke and Mr Kinlock, of Suva, left Hukerenui per express last Tuesday en route for Deep Water Cove. Mr H. Johnstone, the veteran fisherman, accompanied the party in his launch ; "Whapuka" from Opua to their camp- i iug ground at Deep Water Cove. Mr Kinlock, of wide deep sea fishing experience, has "new tackle with which he intends to experiment in the" deep waters at Cape Brett. Mr Kinlock succeeded in hooking a huge swordfish after an hour's fishing. After a strenuous forty minutes' fight Mr Kinlock had the bad luck to lose his fish. . , Shortly. after this mishap' Mr J. E. Keatley had, the good fortune to "land a fine' mako shark, which turned the scales at 3801bs. •
