Tho engagement is announced of Miss Monica K. Swann, second eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Swann, of Helena Bay, Whangarei, to Mr. T. Keenan, of the “Star” office, Auckland.
The engagements is announced of Miss Edna Agues Annison Jones, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs E. Jones, of Whangaruru, Bay of Islands, to Mr Roy Clifford Furness, eldest son of Mr. A- P. and the late Mrs Furness, of Mornlngside, Auckland. The engagement is announced of Miss Emma Wallace, second daughter of Mr and Mrs J. A. Wallace, of Kamo, to Mr I. R. Beehre, youngest son of Mr and Mrs. W. 11. Beehre, of Whangarei. The engagement is announced of Miss Doreen Murphy, younger daughter of Mrs A. M. McLeod, of Deveron Street, Whangarei, to Mr A. Marsdeu Woods, LL.B., youngest son of Mr and Mrs J. J. Woods, of Franklin Road, Auckland.
Mr and Mrs Clark-Walker have re turned to Auckland.
Mrs R. Foote-and family are camping at Whangarei Heads. Mr. and Mrs. Mullins and family arc at Nguuguru.
Miss -Mark, To Puke, is the guest of Miss Clark-Walker.
Miss E. Archer, who with Miss Chcescman has been visiting her parents, returned to Wellington on Monday.
Mrs Cafler has been spending a pleasant holiday at tho Heads, the guest of her sister, Mrs Bentley. Mr and Mrs F. White have returned from Auckland.
Mrs 6. H. Monish, late of Dargavillo, but now of Whangarei, spout last week with her son, Mr George Monish, on the farm at Maropiu, Dargavillc. She act indued to Whangarei on Thursday. 1
Miss Halliday accompanied 1 by Miss Gwen Halliday, left Whangarei on Thursday for Hamilton after spending a fortnight’s holiday at home. Miss Gwen Halliday will join her mother, who has been on a motor trip with Miami Mrs Crosby to the Exhibition in Dunedin, and will return in the car, which is due in Whangarei tomorrow. In addition to the six nurses, trained at the Annexe to the Whangarei Hospital, who passed their midwifery examinations, Nurses C. Smcdlcy and A. D. Baker, of the Kawakawa Hospital, and E. E. Calame, of Mangonui Hospital, also, passed the examinations with honours.
WEDDINGS. MORGAN—FLEMING. A quiet, but pretty wedding was solemnised in the Whangarei Presbyterian Church on Thursday, December 31, by the Rev. E. Andrews, of Waipu. The parties (were Evh,. daughter oT Mr and Mrs J. A. Fleming, of Whangarei, and Richard Owen Morgan, of Kay Breton, Canada. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a charming frock of deep cream crepe de merle, with trimmings of Honiton lace and hat to match, and carried a sheaf of madonna lilies. She was attended by her sister Winnie, who wore a dainty frock of turquoise blue silk maroeain with gray hat and shoes to match, and carried a shower bouquet of palest pink sweetpeas, delphinium and asparagus fern. Mr Eric Emerson acted as best man. The bride travelled in an ensemble suit of cinnamon with hat and shoes to match. Mr and Mrs Morgan were the recipients of many handsome and useful presens.
WOLFE—HAMMOND. A pretty wedding was solemnised at All Saints Church, Kamo, on December 23, when Miss Edith Hammond, youngest daughter of Mr .and Mrs W. Hammomd, Kamo (late of Sheffield, England), was married to Mr Allan W. Wolfo, fourth son of Mr and Mrs W. H. Wolfe, of To Awamutu. The Eov. T. W. Edwards officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a dress of white crepe-de-ehene and georgette, embroidered in gold with a veil of silk tullo embroidered, and the customary orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of pale pink carnations and maiden hair fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Carrie Wolfe, sister of the bridegroom, wore a dress of peach "repc do chene and georgette, and also carried a bouquet of pink carnations and maiden hair fern. The best man was John Lang McCulloch, a friend of tho bridegroom.
