Following an argument between three constables and a number of men, mostly Italians, at North Melbourne, a fight ensued in which one of the constables, named Clare, was fatally stabbed in the groin. Ah Italian, Dominie Condello, was arrested after a chase and later charged with murder. (A. bloodstained,pocket knife was found near the scene of the fight.
