The employees of two big bacon factories at Preston and Ballarat respectively struck, following on tlie employers' refusal to grant the employees' demand of a 10 per cent increase in wages. The strike has thrown the industry into chaos, as other employers feel' that it is unsafe to make forward' arrangements: The employees accordingly throughout the industry have been given 14' days' notice of dismissal.—A. and' N.2T.
