In connection with the poll on the ! Licensing issue the completed figures for the Dominion have now been made available by the deputy-chief electoral officer, and are as follows: — National Continuance 299,584 State Purchase and Control 50,043 National Prohibition 319,450 Majority against prohibition 30,177 —Press Assn. The following table gives the figures in connection with the polls taken on the Licensing question, in the years 1919 and 1922:— 1919. 1922. National Ton. ... 241,2.11 282,009 State Control .. . 32,201 35,727 National Pro. .. . 270,250 300,791 It will be seen, therefore, that, the majority against Prohibition is steadily increasing. In 1919 Prohibition was defeated by 3202; in 1922 by 17,005 and tliis year h.v 30,177. Another feature worthy of note is the big increase recorded in favour of the middle issue. State Purchase and Control, which has jumped from 32,261 in 1919 to 56,043 in 1925.
