SHEEP DOG TRIALS

THE NORTHLAND CLUB,

GATHERING AT BROAD WOOD

The Northland Snecp Dcfg Trial Clt:"b held its first trials near Broailwood on J • Thursday and Friday. The -weather conditions were perfect, and it must have been very pleasing to the officers of the club to see that their efforts J were appreciated, there being a large attendance of spectators and competitors from Whangarei and the Bay of Islands. In tlie two heading events local dogs more than held their own. The judge commented very favourably on their run out, and although in many cases competitors had never previously taken part in trials, in the judge's I -opinion, "with, a little more command j th'ey will be able to hold their own at any southern trials. The ground, kindly lent "by Mr. Lees, proved to be a good test in 'both heading and huntaway events. The committee worked haTd and the stewards carried out their duties in an efficient manner. On Thursday evening a very pleasant time was spent at Mt. Robertson':-, those interested in the trials meeting at a smoke concert.
