A DUTY
Tomorow afternoon a ipeeting will be held at . the supper room of the Whangarei Town Hall to discuss the movement has been instituted m some of tlje larger centres with, the object, of erring a national memorial to the . Iftte Right Hon. W. F. Massejr. The movement being a national one, the Whaiigarei district is, of course, expected to 'do its share, and we are sure that the. people of the district will be glad to do their duty. Mr
Massey's whole life was marked by consistent application to what he regarded as his duty, and his fine conception of his duty was that he should do his utmost to promote' the welfare of New Zealand and the British Empire. The people whom he served so well owe a debt of gratitude to his memory, a debt which they can discharge in part by the establishment of a permanent memorial. The movement ! that has been launched is by po means j a political one. The purpose is simply J (o express recognition of national .services in a national way. The people of the Whangarei district, both conntry and town,, are invited to undertake their part of this project, and it is to be hoped that they will .respond readily to the invitation of the Mayor and the County Chairman to attend to-niorrow's meeting. The larger and the more representative the meeting is the easier it will be to organise the ! desired effort.
