THE SOCCER CODE,

BROWN SHIELD SELECTION GAME

On Saturday at the recreation grounrl the North Auckland Football Association will select the North Auckland Soccer representatives to contest the Brown Shield on Saturday, June 27, with Auckland, the present holders. A Probable v. Possible match will be played. Several Hikurangi and Waro players are among the 20 men chosen by the sole selector, Mr. F. Mogford, and it is anticipated that the public will witness a line exposition of the Soccer code. The teams to take the field are as follows: —

Probables.—Goal, Turtington (Hikurangi); backs, Haycock and Heeney (Y.M.C.A.); half-backs, Malcolm (Hikurangi), J. Piatt (Waro) and Cook (Portland); forwards, Caldwell (Y.M. C.A.), Shepperd (Waro), Croft (Y.M. C.A.), Parsons (Hikurangi), Booth (Y.M.C.A.).

Possible. —Goal, Malcolm (Waro>; backs, Taylor and Darlington (Hikurangi); half-backs, Macnay (Waro), Lewins (Y.M.C.A.) and Piatt (Waro); forwards, Piper (Waro), Worthington (Portland), McCullough (Y.M.C.A/i, Ackers (Waro) and Queripel (Hikurangi). Emergencies.—S'. Cole, Gribble (Y.M. C.A.), Potter, W. Brown (Portland), Mr. A. Bowie has been appointed referee and; Messrs JV.Ritson and R. Nesbitt have been appointed -linesmen. UNDER RUGBY RULES. The Hikurangi representative teams for Saturday's matches in the senior and junior Rugby competitions will b-: selected from the following players:— Seniors.—C. Mclnnes, Berghon, Wyatt, Griffin, J. Hamilton, E. Meyer, R. Cunningham, G. Martin, E. McDonald, A. Wells, N. Dunn, A. Cunningham, Rusk, E. Taylor, Arncil and Scarr. Juniors.—J. Rarity, R. Hamilton, Coleman, L. Ball, E. Cunningham, B. Meyer, N. Saul, J. Eowe, Ross, Jackson, J. Williams, Wotherall, O'Gatinghan, E. Wells, Calkin, Peters, Thompson, Biu'liannan, and .T. Dunn. The senior team will meet Kamo ;it the recreation ground, while live juniors will travel to Whangarei to play Kiripakn at Kensington Park.
