WESTFIELD STOCK PRICES
DALGETY'S REPORT.
Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report as follows on the Westfield sale on Wednesday: —
Beef. —An average yarding. Prime cattle were again scarce, and sold readily at last week's quotations. On account of Mr. J". B. Hutchinson, Te Awamutu, two trucks of extra prime bullocks averaged £14 18/, and sold up to £15 5/, the top price for the day. We quote: Extra choice ox, 33/ per 1001b; choice and prime, 29/ to 32/; others, 22/ to 28/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 27/ to 29/ per 1001b; medium quality, 23/ to 25/; others, 18/ to 22/.
Sheep were penned in average numbers, and sold at late rates, although bidding throughout was dull. The top price of the day, £2 7/9, was obtained for extra heavy wethers from Mr. M. Harding, Mount Wellington, while a pen of prime sheep from Mr. Robert Hall's Pukekawa property sold up to £2 6/. We quote: Extra heavy prime wethers, £2 4/ to £2 7/9; heavy prime wethers, £2 to £2 3/; medium prime £1 17/6 to £1 19/; light, £1 14/ to £1 16/; small and unfinished, £1 10/ to £1 13/; best heavy prime ewes, £1 15/ to £1 18/3; medium prime, £1 11/ to £1 14/; light prime, £1 6/ to £1 .10/; others, 18/ to £1 5/. Pigs.—A fair yarding sold readily at late rates. Choppers made £3 to £4 10/; heavy and medium baconers, £3 18/ to £4 14/;, light baeoners and heavy porkers, £3 3/ to £3 16/; medium and light porkers, £2 8/ to £3. Calves. —A large yarding, and prices accordingly were easier. Runners made £3 10/ to £5 18/; heavy vealers, £3 to £4; medium, £2 5/ to £2 18/; light, £1 15/ to £2 3/; small and unfinished, IS/ to £1 13/; fresh dropped, 3/ to 6/. Lambs were penned in average numbers, selling at late rates. Best heavy prime made 32/ to 36/; medium prime, £1 7/ to £1 11/; light, £1 4/ to £1 6/; others, 18/ to £1 3/.
TEA MARKET. IMPROVING TENDENCY. (Received 9 a.m.) CALCUTTA, June 17 At the tea sales prices generally were firm at about late rates. There was a good demand for fannings and well made leaf grades, with an improving tendency. Ordinary liquoring kinds were in less demand. Dusts were firm. —A. and N.Z.
TALLOW ■ SALES. (Received 9 a.m.) LONDON, June 18. At the tallow sales 589 casks were offered and 150 sold. Prices were unchanged.—A. and N.Z.
