At a meeting of the Otago University Council Mr. T. K. Sidey, the Chancellor, offered a gift of £1000 for dental bursaries at Otago University on condition that the whole of the Sidey bequest be used for the same purpose. This bequest, under the will of Mr. Sidey's father, entitles the Council at the expiry of certain lift* interests to £10,000, while a settlement by Mr. Sidey's mother provides a fuFther £4000, making, with the Government subsidy £15,000.
