KAITAIA, This Day. A disastrous fire occurred here in. the early hours yesterday, when a
building owned by Mr. Fred Puc.key and occupied by Mrs. Ilayden (restaront), Mr. Allan Watson (stationer) and Mr. W. H. Atkins (auditor), was completely destroyed.
The fire started in Mrs. Havden's kitchen,, and she and the staff only escaped with their lives, as the root' collapsed just as they reached the street.
The building was insured in the South British for £900, and Mr. Watson's stock in the Victoria Office fat' ,t'3oo, Mrs. Havden's insurance is not available. All arc heavy• losers.
