NEXT WEDNESDAY'S SALE
The North Auckland district has a reputation for being the class of country on which Jerseys do better than in any other part of the Dominion, consequently a sale that provides an opportunity of securing pedigree Jerseys that have been bred on right lines as regards constitution, stamina and butter-fat production, should be eagerly availed of/ Such a sale will take place at Mr G. Hodgson's farm, "Silverdale," Whakapara, on Wednesday next, when Messrs A. S. Bevin, Ltd., will offer 33 females and 13 males.
The old days of haphazard dairying have gone by and dairy-farming has now been elevated by the addition of scientific methods of butter-fat production. Quality has taken the place of quantity and the time has arrive# when a successful man on the land cannot afford to keep duds in his hera. Mr Hodgson's farm is within easy distance of Whangarei by metalled road and a good footbridge gives ready access to the farm from the highway. 347

In today's issue Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., insert a* important announcement regarding the sale of "Jersey Bank" pedigree Jerseys, which is to take place on Friday, April 3, at the showgrounds, New Plymouth, on account of Mr A. Hodgkinson, Takaka, Nelson
This sale will give Northern breeders an opportunity of infusing new blood into their herds. This is undoubtedly one of the secrets of success in the matter of butter-fat production. All the cows in the offering are in calf to the gr«at dairy sire, Walpiko Leo.
Catalogues are obtainable from the auctioneers, who also state that selections will be made on behalf of those unable to atK-nd the sale. 709 "CRYSTAL SPRINGS" JERSEYS. The annual dispersal sale of "Crystal ■Springs" Jerseys on account of Mr C. Stevens, Maungatapere, will take place on the farm on Tuesday next, March 24. The "Crystal Springs" herd is among the first flight of Jerseys for butter-fat production and Mr Stevens has the reputation of benig a breeder -who aims at securing nothing but the best. This year the s-ile is comprised mostly of female stock, but a few bulls will be among the offering. The cows and heifers in several instances have a C.O.R.' and this year's test figures will be given at the sale, which will commence at noon sharp.
