Dear Valerie, — There are severe hats for fat faces, faces, lively picture ones for willowy women, and the cheeriest pull-ons for the piquant type that simply couldn't resist a soft hat with a pointed crown covered with embroidery in mixed colourings that had a patchwork effect. This new trimming is composed of pieces of coloured material stitched all round with gold or silver thread and then appliqued over the hat. Most hats have bows or tufts of feathers to finish them off, and the tiny turnedup brim is becomingly faced with dark velvet. The crowns are oval or Pierrot shaped, and very soft, so that you can punch, them into any shape you please.
