T. Brainsby. The bush on the slope of Manaia was, he said, a beautiful feature at the harb®ur entrance, and worthy of preservation. The owner had offered to sell it as a scenic reserve for £1200.

Owing to the steepness of the country the timber would be considerably damaged during working. Mr McLean agreed that Manaia would certainly lose much of its scenic attractiveness if the timber were cut. The chairman, Mr R. E. Hornblow, moved that Mr McLean be e.sked to assess the value oftho timber and assess the value of the timber and discuss the question of sale with the owner,,and that the proposal to conserve the bush be referred to the Minister in chaTge of Scenery Preservation.
