LIFE-SAVING SHIELD,

CHKISTCHURCH, This Day.

The life-saving championship of New Zealand for the Nelson Shield, was contested at New Brighton yesterday by six teams of swimmers from New Plymouth, Wellington, Christchuch and Dunedin. In a close finish Lyall Bay (Wellington) gained the shield by one point from New Brighton. This was the largest number of teams that have ever contested the shield.
