LIFE-SAVING SHIELD,
CHKISTCHURCH, This Day.
The life-saving championship of New Zealand for the Nelson Shield, was contested at New Brighton yesterday by six teams of swimmers from New Plymouth, Wellington, Christchuch and Dunedin. In a close finish Lyall Bay (Wellington) gained the shield by one point from New Brighton. This was the largest number of teams that have ever contested the shield. The placing of the teams, with the points allotted, are as follows:— Land Total Drill. Water. Points. Lyall Bay 60.8 90.1 150.9 New Brighton 3 S-i ft i^oo
