THE KING'S TOUR
BEGINS NEXT WEEK.
OUTLOOK MUCH BRIGHTER
| PRINCE AS LOCUM TENENS. (Received 9 a.m.) ' LONDON, February 23. His Majesty's physicians' advice in favour of the King's cruise in the Mediterranean did not surprise wellinformed circles, as doctors are generally recommending a change of air after influenza, and the cold snap makes a change more desirable. The King is unlikely to leave his room this week, in view of the snowy and frosty weather, but he may be fit to start abroad next week. Meanwhile lie is not allowed to smoke. The Mediterranean tour has been chosen because it will afford a maximum of rest and respite from official calls. 1 If His Majesty sails on March 5 he should be back in time to farewell the Prince of Wales on March 28. The fact that the Prince of Wales is adhering to his plans for an eight months' tour indicates that the King's progress is viewed as most satisfactory.
The Prince will represent His Majesty at tlie two levees in the middle of March, which will be the first time the. Prince has thus officiated.— A. and N.Z.
