/ SUBSTANTIAL SENTENCES.

NAPIER, This Day. Mr. Justice Alpers at the Supreme Court sentenced John Robertson, a lad who pleaded guilty to arson and manslaughter, to ten years' reformative detention on each charge, the sentences being concurrent. Accused is at present serving a sentence at the Borstal Institute for arson, and theft.

Donald Stewart, another youth, for attempted murder by placing caustic soda in medicine was sentenced- to seven years' detention and to ; six months on. each charge for ing ;(fivo charges),' all the sentences being concurrent. !

George Clarence Wilson, for forgery and uttering, received sentence of twelve months' hard labour, and for false pretences (two chaJges) six months each. —Press Assn."
